GTK+ su OS X

Beh, almeno ogni tanto una notizia che sia veramente bella e faccia rivampare un po’ l’amore perduto tradito :)

For the GTK+ user this means that popular applications will become
available to this new platform. Future GTK+ applications, irrespective
of which operating system they originate from, will be much more easily
ported to the other supported systems.

For the software industry this toolkit represents the best of two
worlds. The platform-native “look and feel” of the applications written
with the aid of GTK+, combined with a code base that can be reused on
all platforms. This reduces the cost of developing cross-platform
applications or re-writing the graphical part of an existing
application. Applications already using GTK+ will more easily become
available to Mac OS X users.

“I’m really looking forward to finally be able to put GIMP natively on
Mac OS X.”
- Michael Natterer, Maintainer of GIMP.

  1. Bueno que bien :), yo tengo mi opinion personal sobre GTK que no es muy buena, mas bien es:

    GTK puajjjj XP’

Con respecto a los chicos de Gimp, no les puedes tocar su aplicacion si que peguen el grito en el cielo…

  2. En Ingles, perdoname!
Nope, chico, I don’t agree with you this time ;) I always preferred Gnome when using Linux, it’s clean and well designed, never liked KDE. GIMP… ok, it’s not and will never be a real alternative to the biggest ones, but it’s a good application and you can do great things with it, if you only know how ;) It’s damnly hard to learn, and that’s what makes it a poor alternative compared to others, but having it merged with Aqua on OSX would be nice ;) It’s always good when people are provided with more options to chose from. It’s good to choose. I’d be happy to have an Aqua-Gimp or Gnumeric in my Applications folder, just in case I would like to go for a ride, even if I don’t really need them :o)

    Bueno, es todo ;)

  3. Nice answer, but for me i choice QT aplications over GTK aplications, is dosn’t matter at the end every one have is own preferences, for example i starting on linux whit KDE & QT, thats the reason what i chose them is more closer to mi user & developér experience, and they have a great candy desktop to.

About GIMP i never says that was a bad software ( is not, really is nice aplication, i use them ), is great but a not so long time ago, some people start one new project called KIMP, tring to take out GIMP to QT, and the developer team of GIMP…was inflexible about this project.

I know that is great project but really the need pay more attention to the users & open hes doors to everybody on the community, even now krita, part of the Koffice suite has took many good ideas from gimp.

PD: se me olvidaba decirte que Open Office sera portado nativamente a OSX, no se si ya lo hayas leido por ahi ;)
